Weekend Round Up - 28 February 2005Last weekend was a very successful one for Northern Ireland athletes competing indoors.
Zoe Brown set a seasons best when winning the BUSA indoors at the EIS in Sheffield. Zoe competes this weekend for NI at the Inter-city Cup in Manachester where she hopes to get the European U23 standard of 4m15 out of the way.
Anna Boyle went one better by picking up two golds. She ran 7.54secs for victory in the 60m and followed up with a personal best of 24.16 seconds in the 200m.
Raymond Adams got in some speed work with a 49.1 sec 400m for fifth place in the final. (further updates when results available)
Amy Foster was competing at the AAA's Under 17 Championships in Birmingham. The North Down AC athlete came home with a magnificent silver medal in the 200m running an excellent time of 25.17 sec behind Hayley Jones. In fact Amy ran even faster in her semi final running a time of 25.09sec again behind Jones.
These times auger well for the outdoor season where she aims to compete at the European Youth Olympics in Italy.
Ashley McClenaghan was also competing in the Under 17 Men's Shot Putt. The Ballymena & Antrim AC athlete performed well but unfortunately this time was outside the medals.
Queens University hosted the Irish Universities Cross Country at the weekend. Suzanne Mc Cormick was Northern Ireland's top finisher picking up a bronze medal for the host club in the ladies event.
Erin Kinnear vaulted 3m65 for second in the Sun-Belt championships in Jonesboro.
