NI Spar Sprint Initiative welcomes Steve Backley and Derek Redmond - 15 March 2006The NI Spar Sprint Initiative is delighted to announce the visit of 2 former Olympians for a number of sprint workshops on Sunday 2nd April 2006.
Steve Backley (former World Record Holder in the Javelin) will be delivering a presentation on Power Agility and Co-ordination. All of these factors are of extreme importance to all athletic events but this workshop will be specifically geared towards sprinters.
Derek Redmond (1991 World Championship Gold Medallist, 4x400m) will also be in attendance. He has brought his vast experience as an athlete to his new role within UK Athletics as Senior Co-ordinator of Sprints & Hurdles. There will be a question and answer session with both former athletes.
A second workshop will be delivered under the Spar Sprint Initiative. It will focus on Relay running for the Young Athlete. This workshop will be delivered by Maeve Kyle (International Irish Coach) who will be able to pass on her vast amount of knowledge in this area to coaches and teachers.
The cost of each workshop is £5.
For further information or to reserve a place on either of these workshops, please contact Karen Mills on 028 9060 2707 or email karen@niathletics.org
