Day 4 round up - 22 March 2006NI's highest ranked athlete James McIlroy failed to progress to tomorrows 800m final when finishing fourth in the third semi-final of the mens 800m. Arriving at the start line in fantastic shape James should have been able to win the race with a variety of different tactics; however there is obviously something in his system which meant that his 100% effort wasnt good enough to make Thursdays final.
James will make a decision on his participation in the 1500m tomorrow, but it is likely that he will want to compete having worked so hard in his preparation period.
Anna Boyle had two good runs in the womens 200m; running her second fastest ever time in the heat before tiring in the semi-final to just over 24 seconds.
Eva Massey went into the Womens shot putt ranked 12th and finished 11th with a throw of just under 15metres.
